This is Alexander Calder's 'Little Spider', made from metal. It’s like a drawing in space, right? What I love is how Calder makes something so solid feel so light. The wire curves and loops, suspending shapes that dance in the air like musical notes. You can almost see him bending and shaping the metal, each curve a deliberate choice, a gesture frozen in time. I’m drawn to the colours on the left, the planes of red and orange. They seem to bring the whole piece alive. They play off the black counterweights on the right, anchoring the composition. It’s about movement but balance, a conversation between lightness and weight. Calder reminds us that art can be playful, immediate and open to endless possibilities. Think Picasso, think Miro - he joins that gang for sure. Each element poised in delicate equilibrium. What do you see?
