Biography
William Baziotes (1912-1963) was an American abstract painter associated with Abstract Expressionism. Known for his biomorphic forms and luminous, ethereal palettes, Baziotes created paintings characterized by a dreamlike quality, often depicting seemingly floating, organic shapes against ambiguous, atmospheric backgrounds. His work frequently features muted colors, delicate lines and washes of color, creating a sense of mystery and depth. Baziotes' paintings are considered a significant contribution to the development of abstract art in the mid-20th century.
