Rodolphe Töpffer (1799-1846) was a Swiss artist and writer who is considered a pioneer of the graphic novel. His illustrations, often created with pen and ink, feature detailed characters and expressive lines, which often depict scenes from his humorous literary works. His most famous work, "The Adventures of Mr. Obadiah Oldbuck," is known for its innovative use of sequential panels and engaging storytelling, influencing generations of cartoonists and graphic novel artists.
