Biography
Mu'in Musavvir was a prolific Iranian artist working in the Safavid period (1605-1722). Known for his intricate illustrations within manuscripts, his work often depicts scenes from Persian literature with a fine detail and delicate use of color, evident in the example above showing a mythical creature carrying a figure on its back. Musavvir’s illustrations contributed to the development of Safavid miniature painting, a highly celebrated art form known for its meticulous detail and narrative qualities.
