Mathias Boumans

Mathias Boumans (1838-1910) was a Belgian photographer known for his landscape and architectural photography. Born in Maastricht, Netherlands, Boumans worked primarily in the Namur region of Belgium. His style reflects the influence of Pictorialism, a movement emphasizing artistic expression in photography, often through soft focus, tonal variation, and atmospheric effects. Boumans was also a member of the Société Belge de Photographie, contributing to the development of photographic art in Belgium.
