Johann Gelle

Johann Gelle was a Dutch Baroque printmaker and draughtsman, born in Cologne, Germany, in 1585, and died in Amsterdam on March 30, 1625. He is known for his detailed engravings with complex compositions that often feature allegorical figures and scenes of everyday life. Gelle's works often deal with themes of morality, virtue, and vice, with his prints depicting stories, proverbs, or warnings against behaviors like gambling, drinking, and other social ills.
