Biography
Johannes Joseph Maria Watrin (1783-1855) was a Belgian artist born in Luik and who died in Nieuwer-Amstel. Watrin was known for his academic figure drawings, often rendered in charcoal or sanguine, as seen in his works "Study of a Male Nude" and "Study of a Male Nude with a Staff." These drawings demonstrate his mastery of anatomy and his ability to capture the human form with precision and realism. Watrin's works are highly regarded by art historians and collectors for their meticulous detail and the insight they provide into the practices of classical art training.
