Biography
The artist, Jean-Baptiste Donatien de (graaf van Rochambeau) Vimeur, is known for his work in the photographic genre, particularly in the early 20th century. Vimeur’s photography is notable for its use of light and shadow to create depth and a sense of realism, as seen in his image of a ship at sea. He was also a pioneer in the use of the "Velox" paper, which he described in his writings on photographic techniques.
