Hiin Tsūyō was a Japanese calligrapher who lived from 1593 to 1661. His works are characterized by bold strokes and powerful compositions, showcasing his mastery of the art form. He specialized in the “kaisho” style of calligraphy, known for its clear and regular characters, often used for formal documents. Tsūyō’s works were highly regarded during his lifetime and continue to be admired for their technical skill and artistic beauty. He is best known for his ink and paper works displayed on scrolls.
