Biography
Hendrick Goltzius (c. February 1558 – January 1, 1617) was a Dutch printmaker and draughtsman, born in Mulheim an der Ruhr, Germany and died in Haarlem, Netherlands. A master of the engraving style, he was known for his Mannerist style in his prints and drawings, often depicting classical mythological figures and religious scenes. His detailed and dramatic compositions with complex anatomy and exaggerated poses are highly valued and collectible. His work is recognized for its technical virtuosity and bold use of light and shadow.
