Biography
Gerrit van Goor (1634-1694) was a Dutch painter, born in Haarlem and known for his portraits. He is primarily known for his portrait miniatures and full-length oil paintings, typically depicting men in formal attire. Van Goor's works are characterized by detailed rendering of clothing and accessories, and a realistic portrayal of his subjects. The subjects of his paintings are usually members of the upper class or prominent figures in Dutch society. He spent a significant part of his later years in Batavia, present-day Jakarta, Indonesia, where he may have continued to practice his art.
