Georges Petit

Georges Petit (1856-1920) was a French photographer best known for his portraiture. Born and died in Paris, Petit's work is characterized by its technical skill, elegant composition and sensitive depiction of his subjects, often high-society figures and prominent personalities. Petit's signature style, particularly his use of soft lighting and subtle tonal transitions, gave his photographs a painterly quality.
