Ford Madox Brown (1821-1893) was an English painter and a key figure in the Pre-Raphaelite movement. His work often depicted scenes from history, literature, and daily life, characterized by rich detail and a focus on social commentary. Influenced by the realism of the Italian Renaissance, Brown's paintings are known for their vivid colors, detailed brushwork, and expressive figures. One of his most famous works, "Work" (1852-1865) is an allegory of social class and the division of labor in 19th-century England.
