Byam Shaw (1872-1919) was a British painter born in India, known for his historical and literary illustrations, particularly those of Shakespeare and Dante. Shaw was an influential member of the Newlyn School, a group of artists who favoured realism and naturalism, as seen in his paintings depicting historical scenes with detailed and often dramatic portrayals of figures.
