"Angel and Two Putti" is a black chalk drawing created by the Italian artist Moncayo Pignatelly (1700-1770) sometime in the 18th century. The drawing, which is now in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, depicts an angel with large feathered wings hovering above a recumbent putto. Two other putti, one seated and one lying down, are depicted near the angel's feet, the seated putto holds a flower in its hand. The drawing is a preparatory study for a larger painting, and the artist's use of line and shading suggests the volume and movement of the figures. The drawing is a fine example of the artist's skill and mastery of the black chalk medium, and it is a testament to his keen observation of the human form.
