Sally Gabori painted *My Country* with what looks like acrylic on canvas. The whole thing feels like a memory of a place, with that blazing orange washing over everything. The way the brushstrokes move, you can feel the energy of her hand. Look how she’s built up that thick black shape near the bottom. It's got this rough, almost volcanic texture, a real contrast to the smoother orange surrounding it. Then, up top, there’s this patch of red, like a sunset refusing to fade. I’m reminded of Etel Adnan, another artist who painted the landscapes of her memory with big blocks of color. But where Adnan's work feels expansive, Gabori's feels more intimate, like a secret whispered from the land itself. Art, you know, it’s never really about answers, it’s about keeping the conversation going.
