This is a design for a stained glass window with ornaments and the letters 'DN' made with pencil and watercolour. What I see here is a process of layering; starting with the outlines in pencil and adding translucent washes of watercolour over the top. It's almost like the artist is building up the image layer by layer, revealing new forms and possibilities each time. I particularly like how the watercolor pools in certain areas, creating these unexpected textures and color gradations. Look at the top of the window, how the color bleeds and blurs, giving the design a real sense of depth and atmosphere. It makes me think of Hilma af Klint, who used a similar approach to create these otherworldly, spiritual images. It’s about embracing the unpredictable nature of the materials and letting the process guide you. Ultimately, this is a piece that celebrates the beauty of imperfection, the joy of exploration, and the power of art to surprise and delight.
