Verena Loewensberg made this untitled painting with a series of rectangles, one after the other, like building blocks. I can just see her, can’t you? Thinking so hard about how one colour meets another; a kind of chromatic domino effect rippling across the painting. The color palette is really something. The lilacs, blues, and greens, gently muted. It's as if she were trying to create the quietest, most harmonious composition possible. The surface is flat, but the painting is still very much alive. It breathes, it resonates. There’s something deeply satisfying in its simplicity. Like a Mondrian, or a Josef Albers, Loewensberg uses geometry to explore the emotional impact of color and form, and their relation. There is also a playfulness in the arrangement, each color block creating an optical path and suggesting a sense of endless movement. Ultimately, this is an artist using painting as a place to think, to discover, to connect. It's an invitation to slow down, to look closely, and to find beauty in the unexpected.
