Yuriy Khymych gave us this painting of Mountain Crimea, and it looks like he made it with gouache. The way Khymych layers these blues, it's like the mountains keep going on forever. You can almost feel the air getting cooler and thinner the farther back you look. I love how he simplifies everything into these basic shapes, but still captures the feeling of a real place. Check out how he uses that warm brown in the foreground against all that blue. It makes the whole painting vibrate, doesn't it? You can almost feel the sun beating down on those old stones. It's like he's not just painting what he sees, but what he feels. I see echoes of someone like, say, Milton Avery in Khymych’s work. Both artists have this knack for turning landscapes into something deeply personal and emotional. To me, art is about finding your own voice, your own way of seeing the world, and then sharing it with everyone else.
