Hannelore Baron made this artwork from found materials, carefully placed within a box. Imagine her, sorting through scraps and fragments of wood, maybe metal, things that others discarded. How she has layered these elements to create a world within a world, a container of memories. The dark frame is like the edge of our own consciousness. Is it holding the contents in or keeping us out? I am drawn to the inscription “No More”, repeated on the left side, written like a mantra. A strange symbol of a circle with a cross. This piece reminds me of Kurt Schwitters' *Merzbau*, a sculptural environment that grew organically over time. Artists like Baron are in constant dialogue, echoing and responding to each other across time. “Box” is such an invitation to ponder the meaning of loss, containment, and the quiet power of found objects to tell stories.
