Robert Maguire made ‘Everybody’s Watching Me’ with paint, and I can only imagine what it must have been like, lost in the sheer artistry of it all. The dark palette creates a thick atmosphere, heavy with suspense. It’s so clear that Maguire was a master of his craft, able to manipulate the texture of the paint to enhance the dramatic tension. I can imagine him stepping back, squinting, then lunging forward to add a daub of paint here, a stroke there. The woman’s expression, that hand gesture… it’s all so carefully rendered. And the man, the gun… you can practically hear the silence. What strikes me is the bravery of Maguire to lay bare such raw, unfiltered emotion. He really puts himself out there, you know?
