Elias Voet Jr. made this little vignette with a pedestal and floral motifs, but we don't know exactly when or how. It’s graphic, spare, and somehow satisfying, isn’t it? There's a real sense of geometry mixed with something more organic. I’m thinking about how it makes me see things, you know? I find myself focusing on the lines, the way they create shapes, and how those shapes play off each other. The black ink feels almost velvety. I wonder if the artist was interested in the dialogue between what is represented and how it is represented, which leads to the viewer having to consider both. The little flowers at the top are just gorgeous and bring to mind similar motifs in the work of artists like Hilma af Klint. Anyway, aren’t we all just having a conversation with each other across time?
