Alfred Freddy Krupa made 'Karlovac Central Bus Station at Night' with what looks like digital photography. Think about the dark, inky surfaces and those blurry figures captured in the dead of night. There's something so lonely about this image... What do you think Krupa was thinking when he made it? Maybe he was trying to communicate something through the surface. Maybe Krupa was thinking about the way images emerge and dissolve. The way they reveal and conceal. The photograph reminds me of other painters interested in the way light and shade interact in urban landscapes, like Edward Hopper. It’s like a dance, a push and pull of contrasts. But, in the end, I think these artists are just trying to figure out what it means to be human. What do you think?
