Monnik van de orde van Jakobus met het Zwaard after 1526

This anonymous engraving from after 1526 depicts a monk of the Order of Saint James holding a sword. The monk is dressed in a long robe and a hat, and he is pointing his finger to the right. The engraving is a small work, measuring only 95 mm in height and 66 mm in width. The monk's stern expression and the presence of the sword suggest that he is a member of a military order. The work, now in the collection of the Rijksmuseum, is a valuable example of late medieval religious art.
