Editor: We're looking at "India 1926-1927," a photograph album by Leslie Hamilton Wilson. It's such a striking cover, a vibrant red with gold lettering. What symbols do you see at play here? Curator: The very act of documenting a journey, particularly to a place like India during the British Raj, speaks volumes. What does the ordering of cities – Bombay, Delhi, Cawnpore, Lucknow – reveal about the photographer's journey, both geographically and perhaps socially? Editor: I hadn't considered the order. It feels intentional. Curator: Indeed. The book becomes a container for memories, but also for a specific narrative of colonial experience. It begs the question, whose India is being presented? What is included, and more importantly, what is omitted? Editor: That's such a powerful way to look at it. I'll definitely keep that in mind. Curator: Considering the cultural weight is a crucial tool.
