Editor: So, we have Corita Kent's "chavez" here. It looks like a print, with bold colors, magenta and yellow, and text alongside a portrait. There’s a real sense of urgency here. What do you see in this piece? Curator: Well, the high contrast gives it that striking pop art feel, but it's the text that really sings to me. It’s like a prayer, or maybe a battle cry, referencing Steinbeck to connect with Chavez's fight. Does it make you want to join the march, too? Editor: Absolutely, the "grapes of wrath" quote is powerful. Curator: Kent's work is often like that, a little revolutionary, a little spiritual, and always vibrant. Seeing this makes me think about how art can be a weapon. Editor: I never thought of it that way. Curator: It can be! And hopefully, a colorful, life-affirming one. Editor: Definitely gives me a lot to think about!
