"De genezing van de bezetene in het land der Gerasenen" (The Healing of the Demoniac in the Country of the Gadarenes) is a black and white etching created by Dutch artist Dirk Jurriaan Sluyter between 1863 and 1866. The etching, housed in the Rijksmuseum, depicts a scene from the Gospel of Mark, in which Jesus heals a man possessed by demons. The scene is characterized by dynamic figures and strong contrasts, as well as dramatic use of light and shadow, highlighting the emotional intensity of the event. This work exemplifies Sluyter's skill in depicting biblical scenes with dramatic realism.
