This is a silver Theelepel AVRO, made in 1932 by Gero fabriek. I love how the spoon becomes a tiny monument. The handle is so interesting with its Art Deco style, and the letters "AVRO" stacked up like building blocks. It reminds me that even functional objects can be playful. The details are incredible, like the little lion and crown at the top. It's all so precise, like a miniature cityscape. I am drawn to its smooth, silvery surface. The way light plays across its curves makes it come alive. It's like a tiny sculpture that fits in the palm of your hand. This spoon reminds me of the work of Eva Hesse, who elevated simple materials into objects of great beauty. It is amazing to think that an everyday object like this can be so full of character and charm, a little piece of history in our hands.
