Anna Atkins, a pioneer of photography, created this cyanotype print titled "Bryopsis plumosa" sometime between 1843 and 1853. Atkins used the cyanotype process, a photographic printing technique that produces a blue background with white details, to create a detailed botanical study of a type of seaweed. This particular print, part of her groundbreaking publication "Photographs of British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions," showcases Atkins's groundbreaking contributions to both photography and scientific documentation.
