I imagine the artist carefully inking the design onto paper. What was he thinking as he traced the lines and filled in the shapes? Perhaps he found peace in the repetitive motion, or maybe he was lost in thought, dreaming up new patterns and designs. I see a kind of conversation between abstraction and representation. The design is not quite a bird, not quite a plant, but something in between. There's a fluidity to the curves and spirals.
