This is Alfred Freddy Krupa’s “Sunset”, and immediately, I'm drawn to how he’s captured the light, it's practically radiating off the surface. It’s not just about seeing a sunset, it’s about experiencing light, like the feeling of sun on your skin. Looking closely, you can see how the tones create depth and texture. The way the light bounces off the water’s surface is incredible. And then there’s the sky, a mass of dark, almost ominous cloud formations. Krupa shows the sun as this incredible focal point. See how every mark seems to orbit this point, like everything is pulled toward it. It makes me think of Gerhard Richter and his exploration of light and abstraction. Like Richter, Krupa invites us to see beyond representation, to consider the raw energy of a moment captured, not definitively but through suggestion. And that's where the magic lies, isn't it?
