Bramine Hubrecht made this landscape with trees and a cityscape as a drawing. It’s all about the process, those quick, light pencil marks dancing across the page. I love the way the city kind of dissolves into the trees, or maybe it’s the other way around. There's something so delicate and tentative about the whole thing. The marks are understated, subtle, like she wasn’t quite sure where she was going but was willing to let the drawing lead the way. See that single vertical line dropping from the top like a tear, so out of place and yet so integral to the composition? Hubrecht makes me think of Agnes Martin. Both find a kind of quiet power in simplicity and repetition. This is not just a picture of something; it's a record of a thought, a feeling, a moment in time. Art is always an ongoing conversation.
