Editor: This small, roughly cut-out paper horse from the British School is so simple, but it feels powerful. What symbols jump out at you? Curator: The horse itself is potent. Across cultures, it signifies power, freedom, even nobility. The rough edges and incomplete lines suggest a spirit that cannot be fully contained, a primal energy. Does it evoke any particular historical memory for you? Editor: I hadn’t thought about the incompleteness that way. More like practice. I see the power in the image, but… it's also fragile. Curator: Precisely. Perhaps a reminder that even the most potent symbols are, at their core, constructs, dependent on our collective memory. Editor: I see. It’s interesting how much weight we put on certain images. Thanks.
