This sweet photograph, *Twee meisjes geknield bij een aantal konijnen* or *Two Girls Kneeling by Some Rabbits*, was captured by Richard Tepe, a Dutch photographer who lived from 1864 to 1952. The two girls are crouched down with some bunnies against a barn wall. I am wondering what was it like being Tepe, capturing the moment and hoping it was perfect? You never really know when you are taking a shot how it will develop, if it will work... I am curious what the girls are thinking? Are they going to keep the rabbits? Are they just visiting? The girls are really focused, looking downwards, while the rabbits are huddled together. They seem a bit scared or worried, ears up on alert. There’s a lot of grey and brown in the image, even the white of the rabbits seems toned down. I like the girl in the dress, how the fabric falls across her body. We are all in conversation with each other, and in art we are always looking to each other for inspiration. Each artist brings their own experience and feelings into the mix and the works become like little time capsules. They reflect the moment, and continue to resonate through time.
