This black and white photograph, made by Richard Tepe, shows two young girls kneeling by a group of rabbits. It has that soft focus, a little dreamy, you know? The kind that makes you think about memory. Look at the way the light falls – not too harsh, more like a gentle wash that blurs the edges a little. You can almost feel the texture of the wooden planks behind the girls. And notice the straw, like little scribbles on the ground. It’s incredible how Tepe uses these soft gradients to create a whole world. It's so quiet, yet so full of life. There’s something about the way the girls are positioned, heads bowed, completely absorbed in the rabbits. You can sense their wonder. For me, this piece is like a glimpse into childhood, that feeling of being totally present in a moment, lost in your own little world. I'm reminded of Käthe Kollwitz, both have that incredible, empathic eye. It’s about the feeling, more than the image itself.
