Editor: This is Martin Schweig's "Untitled (hands of older couple)," a photograph, approximately 4x5 inches. It feels very intimate to me. What strikes you most about this image? Curator: I see a quiet statement on aging, but also on the societal roles imposed on older individuals, particularly women. Notice the hands, intertwined, but marked by time. What stories do they tell of labor, of care, of the very expectations placed upon them? Editor: I hadn’t considered the societal aspect. It's more than just age. Curator: Exactly. It's about recognizing the intersections of age, gender, and even class that shape lived experiences, often rendered invisible. It’s a powerful, subtle form of resistance against erasure. Editor: I see it now. Thanks, that’s a new perspective.
