Reverie 2017

Luis Álvarez Roure created this painting, called Reverie, with oil on canvas. Look at the way the light seems to glow from the windows, capturing a simple moment in time. The process of layering oil paint gives the piece a soft, almost dreamlike quality. I love how the textures and colors work together here. Roure's brushstrokes are visible, not trying to hide the hand of the artist. The way he builds up the tones in the room gives it such warmth and depth, almost as if the scene is breathing.
