Raymond McGough made this drawing of a glass flask, we don't know when, using what looks like watercolor. You know, sometimes a simple subject can be the most interesting, right? I love the way McGough captures the texture of the glass with these fine, parallel lines. It's almost like he's mapping the surface, turning something transparent into something you can feel. The color, this muted green, gives it a sense of age, like it's been sitting in a cabinet for decades. Look at the bottom of the flask, where the color deepens. It's a subtle detail, but it adds so much depth and weight to the object. It reminds me of Giorgio Morandi, who found endless inspiration in simple bottles and jars. It's about finding the extraordinary in the ordinary, and I think McGough really nailed that here.
