This print, *Speculum Romanae Magnificentiae: Sacrificial Instruments Based on Ancient Relief Sculpture*, was created by Nicolas Beatrizet (1515-1566) between 1545 and 1580. It depicts a series of sacrificial instruments, including a censer, a lituus, an aspergillum, a securis, a scarpa, a cista, a vase, a discus, a patera, a vessel, a laurel branch, a dagger, and a helmet. The print is based on ancient Roman relief sculpture, and it was likely intended to be used as a model for artists and craftsmen. The print, which is now housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is an excellent example of Renaissance interest in ancient Roman culture.
