Hundertwasser made "680A Sad Not so Sad Is Rainshine - From Rainday on a Rainy Day," using screen printing in Vienna, sometime in the 1960s. It feels like he just let his hand wander, letting the colors flow together in layers. Look at the surface – see how the colors almost bleed into each other, like watercolors, but with a vivid pop. I love how the raindrop shapes are scattered like musical notes, and the buildings almost seem to be melting. He's not trying to trick you into thinking this is real life; it’s more like a dreamscape where everything’s a bit wobbly. The black outline grounds the shapes, but it doesn't confine them. It reminds me a bit of Paul Klee, someone else who knew how to make serious ideas playful. Art isn't always about answers. Sometimes, it's just about asking the right questions in a really interesting way.
