In this colour photograph the artist Carey Young is depicted walking carefully along an uneven pathway composed of broken pieces of grey concrete, situated in a dusty and largely barren landscape. In the distance, beyond a white divide that both obscures and accentuates the horizon line, a high-rise cityscape featuring several towers that are still under construction emerges through the otherwise hazy atmosphere. No other figures populate the scene, the emptiness of which is heightened by the large expanse of cloudy sky that occupies almost half of the composition. The fact that Young wears a plain, dark grey business suit only serves to emphasise the incongruity of her presence in the landscape.
