Editor: This is John Wells' "Marine Construction" from the Tate. I love how it's both delicate and sturdy, like a little ship in a bottle, but made of open lines and shapes. What do you make of its apparent simplicity? Curator: Ah, it's deceptively simple, isn't it? I see a dance of contrasting elements. The hard geometry battles with the fluid lines, suggesting perhaps the controlled world of engineering meeting the unpredictable nature of the sea. Editor: I see that too. It's like a blueprint for a dream. Curator: Exactly! It makes me wonder about Wells' own dreams, his vision of harmony between mankind and the marine world. Does it evoke any particular emotions for you? Editor: Intrigue, mostly. It's a puzzle I want to solve, but I'm not sure I can. Curator: Perhaps the beauty lies in that unsolvability. Thanks, I am going to explore Wells' other works. Editor: Me, too. Thanks for helping me look closer.
