This is Gherasim Luca’s "Transpercer la transparence (1)," and, well, it's hard to say when it was made or with what! The way those pale shapes overlap, like trying to catch smoke. They're like thoughts layered on thoughts, each one slightly obscuring the one beneath. It reminds me that artmaking is often about revealing and concealing at the same time, about the push and pull of showing and hiding. The texture here, or lack of it, is telling. You've got these thin, translucent layers that build up a subtle depth. Look how the light filters through the whole image. This reminds me of Agnes Martin, she aimed at this lightness, but in such a different way, and I'm taken by the idea of art as an ongoing conversation, these artists reaching across time. It's a reminder that art doesn't always need to shout; sometimes, the quietest voices resonate the loudest.
