Jug c. 1665

This white stoneware jug, or "krüge", with a pewter lid is decorated with a delicate black and white landscape scene surrounded by a red frame and accented with green floral details. The scene features a rural landscape with a winding road and a small group of figures in the distance. The jug, created by Johann Schaper in 1665, is a fine example of German 17th-century ceramic art.
