This satirical print, "Beschouwd, ô jeugd! deez' agt bedryven," by Jacobus Thompson, depicts a series of eight scenes of everyday life in the Netherlands during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Each vignette is accompanied by a short, rhyming caption in Dutch that pokes fun at the subject matter. The scenes range from a man being chased by a dog to a group of children performing a street play. The print, which is currently in the Rijksmuseum, is a rare example of Dutch satirical art from this period.
