Sol LeWitt made this vibrant print of horizontal wavy lines, sometime during his lifetime, using a process of layering colors. The texture feels almost liquid, like ribbons of color flowing across the surface. Up close, you can see how each line maintains its own identity, yet together they create a dazzling optical effect. Look at the way the black lines near the left edge seem to pull the other colors into deeper space. It’s like watching currents in the ocean, where each movement affects everything around it. LeWitt's interest in systems and repetition reminds me of Bridget Riley's Op Art, but with a more playful, less rigid approach. Both artists invite us to question how we perceive, and how simple forms can generate complex experiences. Ultimately, what I love about this piece is that it embraces the beauty of ambiguity.
