Editor: This etching, "Portrait of Sphinx: Etching 4 of 6" by Ikeda Masuo, feels so dreamlike and layered. The dark figures against that minty green sky create a really intriguing contrast. What do you make of it? Curator: It’s funny, isn't it? How the subconscious leaks into art. I see echoes of surrealist landscapes, a bit like a fever dream bottled in ink. What do you think, is this sphinx a guardian, a riddle, or simply a reflection? Editor: Maybe all three? I didn't really consider that. Curator: And the orange floral detail? Is that a hint of spring, a reminder of life amidst the enigmatic? Masuo is asking us to look beyond the surface, isn’t he? Editor: Absolutely, I'm definitely seeing new connections now. Thanks!
