This monochromatic church interior, by Jaeger & Goergen, captures the grandeur of the space, but it's the flower arrangement that really grabs my eye. I can almost feel the weight of the flowers and imagine the planning and work involved in creating such a large arrangement. You know, thinking about it, the artist might have been contemplating the fleeting nature of beauty, how something so vibrant eventually fades, or maybe they were simply trying to find a moment of stillness in a chaotic world, a way of dealing with grief. The photo reminds me of the work of other photographers who seek a sense of the spiritual in the everyday. Each of them building on a tradition, always conversing, always pushing at what the medium can do. Ultimately, photography, like painting, is a form of expression. There is no one way to interpret this image, it’s something we bring ourselves to.
