Editor: So, here we have Małgorzata Serwatka's *Circus – sun*, made with acrylic paint. The title immediately gives me this joyful feeling, but the colour palette gives off something darker than a regular circus, an edgy joy perhaps? What do you see in it? Curator: I am immediately thrown into the dizzying heart of a dream! It's a canvas brimming with swirling energy. Those ochre donuts that give this painting such incredible character seem to spin, drawing the eye deeper and deeper into the scene. It's like looking into the memory of a circus, fragmented and brightly colored, wouldn't you say? Editor: It definitely feels like a memory! All those little figures feel quite surreal, I wonder if it's a statement on memory itself, not truly solid? Curator: Maybe, it's a tantalizing thought, because these ethereal beings barely graze the surface. This creates an other-worldly feeling and offers something between the real and imagined, between performance and pure fantasy. Editor: Fantasy! Yes, the more I look at this the more the composition seems childlike, or from another time, a pure creative expression from somewhere deep inside. I find that amazing. Curator: It's raw and playful. The sun looms large and somewhat menacing in its vibrant heat, juxtaposed against the seeming spontaneity with which the whole piece must have emerged, a little like art itself really, isn't it? I think this work evokes a circus from the deepest well of a feeling, a spectacle viewed through the kaleidoscope of imagination. Editor: It does! I hadn't quite seen that. Well, thank you. That was wonderful! Curator: The pleasure was all mine! A brilliant piece to contemplate, definitely food for thought.
