Han de Vries made this hat covered with cockerel feathers in a turban shape sometime in the past. What is immediately striking is how he’s taken a raw material, feathers, and built form in a way that feels both organic and carefully constructed. The feathers are layered and arranged to create texture, depth, and movement. You can almost feel the individual barbs, creating a tactile experience even from afar. Look at how the iridescent sheens dance across the surface, catching the light in unexpected ways. The subtle shifts in tone and colour create a sense of depth and dimensionality. This is not just a decorative object; it's an investigation of form, material, and light. The way he’s arranged these elements reminds me of the kind of approach we see in artists like Meret Oppenheim.
