Editor: So, this is Stuart Davis's "Color-Space Diagrams." It's undated, but it really reminds me of a scientific illustration—a color wheel with hand-drawn geometric shapes and notes. What do you see in this piece? Curator: I see Davis grappling with the very structures that define how we perceive the world, challenging the established order of color theory itself. Look how he disrupts traditional color relationships, inviting us to question the authority of these systems. Editor: Disrupting authority? That's interesting, how so? Curator: Davis was working in a time of great social upheaval, so isn't it possible that these color diagrams are a rebellion against prescribed ways of seeing, a call for a more subjective, perhaps even radical, approach to art and life? Editor: That's a perspective I hadn't considered. I see it differently now. Thanks!
